2400m2 Removal & Replacement of Warehouse Roof

We love a challenge, so when Artistic Spaces, an enterprise which rents out sections of warehouses to individual artists, came to us to help improve their recently purchased warehouse in Park Royal, London we were keen to get involved.
Our experienced surveyor met the client on site to discuss options for the project ahead. Their objective was to let in as much natural light as possible using opening ceiling windows. The request was unusual, as ordinarily GRP windows would be installed, flush with the metal roof and unable to open, however, our team were happy to take on the challenge.
Artistic Spaces also wished to remove the current asbestos roof. Our team are all UKATA trained, this ensures all health and safety measures are in place for the removal and disposal of asbestos roof sheeting.
After finalising project ideas, we got started on planning how we would overcome the challenge of working on a busy London estate, with narrow streets and car parking situated right in front of the delivery entrance. JDB Refurbishments were able to liaise with the local council on behalf of our client as well as working closely with suppliers and waste carriers to ensure smooth collection and delivery of materials.
Work commenced on removing the twin skin asbestos roof and replacing it with 120mm composite panels which offer a 25-year guarantee. Due to the narrow access, a telescopic forklift did not have enough reach to put the central panels of the roof in place so a tower crane was successfully utilised for this stage of the project.
Our years of experience in industrial roofing gave us the ability to create a bespoke design in order to allow each artist space to have its own opening roof windows. We fitted Velux windows throughout the warehouse, brightening the workspaces and offering plenty of flexibility for each artist.
