2500m2 Removal & Replacement of Industrial Roof
Here at JDB we pride ourselves in overcoming any refurbishment problem brought to us by our clients.
When Senior Aerospace purchased their new warehouse unit, they realised it would need a lot of work to make it a suitable long term establishment. Their problems started with an asbestos roof which leaked throughout the building. Although leak repair was possible, ideally they wanted to go for a permanent approach as they had plans to remain in the warehouse for a long period of time. Senior Aerospace came to us to provide quality solutions, whilst the property was still vacant, to avoid disruption to their business.
We set to work offering up different ideas so that Senior Aerospace could make their own decision about what would work best for them. Overcladding the original roof or stripping and resheeting were the two possibilities presented. Senior Aerospace made the decision to remove the original asbestos roof, which our qualified UKATA trained team were confidently able to do themselves. It was then replaced with 120mm composite panels with a 25-year guarantee.
A Plygene liner was also installed to the valley gutter to preserve the performance of the gutter over the upcoming years. JDB’s refurbishment team were then able to finish the job with extra wall cladding between the two different roof levels to leave the warehouse looking fresh and modern.
Before work commenced RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) were issued and approved, ensuring a safe working environment. We overcame the challenge of two roofing levels through the use of safety netting and scaffolding which was assembled before the refurbishment began. Throughout the project, JDB worked closely with the Health & Safety and Facilities managers so that we could arrange a schedule that worked within their timescale and ensure all work was completed on time and on budget.
Our own Contracts Manager, who is SMSTS (site management and safety training scheme qualified) visited the site throughout the project, whilst our teams were managed throughout the duration of time on site by SSSTS (site supervisor safety training scheme) leaders.
