JDB Refurbishments were asked to investigate an issue one of our clients had with a high pressure mains burst pipe within their loading area. They had been informed by the local water authority they were losing up to 5000 litres per hour.

After initial health and safety measures were taken to include fencing off of the area and safety signage to ensure a safe zone for public access, JDB Refurbishments started on the task of resolving the issue.
Initially it was necessary to open up the tarmac area in order to trace the route of the problem and establish whether the water that was escaping was in an area containing any live electrical services, this was done using a cable avoidance tool. JDB worked hand in hand with the water company, and all businesses on the estate, to ensure that all works were completed over a weekend period, and successfully ensured no business operations were affected.
Utilising heavy plant equipment JDB Refurbishments excavated the necessary areas and located the damaged pipe. The existing pipe was flushed and cleaned in order to carry out the repair.
New pipework was installed to replace the original, and then the connection was tested to ensure the issue had been resolved.
All areas were then re-filled with fresh clean stone which was compacted in layers to prepare for the tarmac reinstatement.
